My art is visual rhythm. My latest body of work is a culmination of life’s best experiences; which tend to be highly seductive and patently beautiful. Rhythm surrounds us, from the precise movements of celestial bodies to our planet’s changing seasons, to the ebb and flow of ocean tides, to the gentle sway of trees in the wind. Heartbeats. Drumbeats. Even the digital pulse of our time has it’s own unique rhythm.

I grew up in Colorado in the 1960s, drawing pictures, playing music and essentially learning how to make a living doing art. Shortly after college, I established my own graphic design and advertising firm, which I operated until the late 1980s. After that, I moved to the beaches of southern California where, over the next 20 years, I operated a successful commercial graphics business, traveled, played music, started bands and created fine art, primarily paintings and mixed media assemblages.

At the turn of the century, technology began changing the way fine art could be produced. I was on board from the first, low-resolution reproductions. Such promise! Over the next decade, digitally creating large, beautiful works of art finally became a reality. During that time I also discovered the magic of Arizona, where I spent many visits hiking, photographing, painting and golfing in the breathtaking scenery of the great southwest. In 2008 I moved to Sedona, Arizona, where I currently maintain a digital art studio and oversee an Internet publishing business.

Which brings us full circle; back to visual rhythm, and back to the art. I work rapidly. Spontaneity and momentum are essential; hesitation is problematic. I create and orchestrate the interplay between elements while attempting to sustain a light enough touch to allow the work to breathe. In the end, the union of rhythm and art is an eternal dance with infinite possibilities.
